Children’s privacy
Last updated 2 November 2026 — while our privacy review is under way
Fabluna is made for parents to use with their child, and we hold children's information to a higher bar. This notice explains, plainly, what that means.
A parent is always in control
There is no child-facing login. A child can't sign up or use Fabluna on their own. The account belongs to you, the parent or guardian, and only you can create or change your child's profile.
What we collect about your child, and why
- A first name, an age, and appearance details — so the story and its pictures are about them.
- A birthday, only if you choose to add one instead of an age — so their stories grow up with them. Only the age it works out to is used to write a story.
- The things they love and any notes you add — so each story is made for who they are.
- The first names of the family, friends and pets you add, and how they look if you tell us — so the people your child loves can be in their stories. A friend is another family's child, so please only add a friend whose grown-up is happy for them to appear. Friends are deleted along with your child's profile.
- We only ask for what's needed to make a story. We don't collect anything from your child directly, because your child never interacts with Fabluna on their own.
How your child's information is used
It is used to make your child's stories. The AI that writes and illustrates them receives your child's first name, the first names of the family, friends and pets you've added, the names of any places saved on their profile, and how they look — never your address. Our privacy notice sets out exactly what is and isn't shared, and with whom.
From your account and your child's profile, we never send a surname, a home address, your email address or your child's birthday. There's nowhere on the profile for a surname or an address, and a birthday goes only as the age it works out to.
Share only what you're comfortable with — a first name and a few details are all a story needs.
Google also receives the story text, with the names in it: while read-aloud is switched on, and in the rare case that our usual checks can't check a story.
From 15 November it is also used for Linky's weekly letter to you: once a week, the AI receives the titles of the stories your family made or read, and your child's first name and age, to write a few lines about their week and three ideas for the next story. To keep those ideas new, it may also see a few earlier titles that share a word with an idea.
What we never do
- We never sell your child's information. We share it only with the services that make and deliver the stories, named in our privacy notice.
- We never show ads to your child or build advertising profiles.
- We never use your child's information to train AI.
Your rights as a parent
- You can review your child's profile and stories at any time.
- You can edit or remove what we hold from your settings.
- You can download a copy of everything we hold, including the family and friends on your child's profile, from your settings.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from your settings — your child's profile, their stories and their images are all permanently removed within 30 days. We keep a private copy of your data for 14 days so we can recover from a fault; a deleted account leaves the copies 14 days after it is deleted.
